Torrens Road to River Torrens Project
South Australia
The T2T Project was jointly funded by The Australian and South Australian Governments, both committing $400.5 million towards the project, for a total project cost of $801 million.
The Torrens Road to River Torrens Project has delivered a 4km non-stop roadway (incorporating 3 km lowered motorway), between Ashwin Parade, Torrensville, and Pym Street, Croydon Park, which has provided significant travel time saving to commuters and freight.
This large shotcrete job at the time and was carried out by an interstate contractor mainly because of the scope. Portolesi Structural was requested by the contractor if we’d be interested in taking over a component of the contract. This however couldn’t happen due to the complexities of the contract, so we only came in late and could only carry out smaller repairs. We are now set up for Shotcrete. Had we been at the time, we would have won this contract.
